Since 2001, Camp Ideal has been held at the Federation’s beautiful 27-acre campus, which boasts a large athletic field for baseball and other team sports, archery range, gaga pit, sand volleyball court, tennis court, basketball court, picnic shelter, playgroud, campfire ring, nature trail, and access to the entire Federation Building for rainy days.
Campers participate in activities such as arts & crafts, music, baking, sports, Zumba, drama, dance, nature activities with St. Joseph County Parks Department, theme days, intergenerational lunches, and much more. Our campers also take weekly field trips to fun and educational venues in Michiana, like the Healthworks Museum in South Bend, Fernwood Botanical Gardens in Niles, Four Winds Field, home of the South Bend Cubs, and the Curious Kids Museum in St. Joseph, as well as visiting Fuller’s Beach in Buchanan for a beach day once a week.
Camp Ideal is an exceptional summer day camp program for all children entering Kindergarten through 7th grade. Camp operates for 6 weeks of the summer starting June 22-July 31st, 2020. Camp runs all day (from 9:00AM - 4:00PM), with early and late care options available. We offer discounts for multiple weeks of attendance as well as family discounts for multiple children.
Camp Ideal is run by our Youth and Family Programming department and our Israeli Shlicha/Shliach. Additional counselors are hired from within our community based on the number and needs of the campers enrolled to ensure a safe and structured summer.
Specialists often join us for programs such as art, music, and sports, to provide a variety of experiences for our campers.
The Jewish Federation is committed to helping make Camp Ideal, Teen Israel Trips, and Jewish Residential Summer Camp programs accessible to Jewish youth of all economic means. As part of this commitment, the Jewish Federation has scholarships available to community members who qualify.
Applications for Teen Israel Trips and Jewish Residential Summer Camp programs must be returned to the Jewish Federation no later than April 1, 2020. If you have any questions, please contact the Jewish Federation.
