The Jewish community of Michiana dates back to 1887 with the organization of the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation. Since then our community has grown to include Elkhart county, as well as Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan. With five synagogues and the Jewish Federation, our community provides a variety of opportunities for Jews of all observance levels and affiliations (or lack of affiliation) to share Jewish experiences and culture. An Orthodox day school, and religious education programs at the synagogues provide opportunities for the youth of our community to learn about Judaism (religious and cultural) , Israel and the Jewish community. The Federation offers a variety of age focused programming in addition to community wide events, including summer day camp, BBYO for our teens, young adult, family, senior programming and more.
