Entertaining "Caper" films

Thursday, October 17, 2019 - 2:00pm

The “Caper” has been a favorite theme in both Hollywood and foreign films, especially before and after the demise of the infamous Hollywood Production Code. In this course we will view and discuss 10 of the these films, including Jewel Robbery (1932), The Ladykillers (1955), To Catch a Thief (1955), How to Steal a Million (1966), Who's Minding the Mint? (1967), and five more. Most of these films, which typically have comedic and romantic subplots, have a happy, although somewhat unexpected ending, where caper itself is less than successful.
