Campaign Kick-Off

Every year the Federation launches its Annual Campaign with a kick-off event. As one of our largest annual events, kick-off brings together our whole community to learn about the mission of the Jewish Federation, how that mission is put into action, and how our members and donors make it possible to continue to make an impact of Jewish both locally and internationally.

As part of our kick-off event, we welcome a speaker, entertainer, or program to join us for the evening. Past programs have included:

  • The celebration of Community Leader Kurt Simon's 99th Birthday and the Kurt & Tessye Simon Community Building's 13th Birthday with the premier of a PBS documentary honoring his life and legacy
  • A dramatic presentation of the dream and reality of the State of Israel with guest Michal Lifshitz and Joan Wolfberg presenting as Theodor Herzl and Golda Meir
  • Guest Harold Gernsbacher, International Chair of our Partnership2Gether program
  • Andrew Berlin, Businessman, Philanthropist, Owner and Chairman of the South Bend Cubs
  • Entertainer and Mentalist to the Stars, Sidney Friedman

This Year's Speaker: Ariella Rada

This year will be a very special year as we mark the 75th anniversary of the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley. To celebrate this special milestone, we will be honored to host Israeli diplomat Ariella Rada as the keynote speaker for our Campaign Kickoff that will take place on Thursday, September 19th at 7:00 PM.

Ms. Rada holds the title of Consul for Academic and Community Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel in Chicago. Her personal story symbolizes both the diversity and the importance of the unity of the Jewish people.

In her remarks, she will focus on the topic, "Ethiopian-born, Israeli Diplomat Ariella Rada describes the diversity of Israel and its impact on society.”
